Victor Makashi boasts over forty years of active involvement in the arts. His extensive career spans thirty-six years in public service from 1981 to 2017, during which he seamlessly blended arts practice with arts and culture administration. Beginning as a primary school teacher, Makashi’s dedication to the arts led him to teach at secondary and tertiary education levels in Zambia. His illustrious career culminated in a thirteen-year tenure as Director of the National Arts Council of Zambia before retiring in 2017 as Director of Arts and Culture in the Ministry of Tourism and Arts.

Throughout his career, Makashi has embarked on extensive travels across all five continents, participating in various arts and culture programs. His remarkable body of work is showcased in numerous private and public collections both locally and internationally, testament to his enduring influence and contributions to the global arts community.
